Gone Fishing, Aikens Lake Lodge
I frequently explain to people, and especially to my wife, that it's not the fishing I enjoy but rather the bouncing around in the boat. But occasionally even that gets boring so I have to catch a fish or three to break the monotany. That explanation of why I spend so much time on the water doesn't cut it with her...or anyone else.
But in 10 days I head out for the kind of fishing I really like...at Aikens Lake Lodge in Northern Manitoba.
It is a beautifull lodge that produces excellent trophy walleye in addition to Lake Trout and Northern Pike.
I usually fish in Lake of the Woods near Sioux Narrows, which is a pretty good fishery unto itself, but pales in comparison to what we will catch at Aikens Lake.
Manager Pitt Turenne has been doing this since he was a child when his dad Gerry owned the lodge. It is extremely well run and I look forward to reporting what we caught.
I will be going up with my son in law who is an equally avid fisher, so I don't have to worry about anyone wanting to come home early.
If you are a person who likes fishing take a look at the lodge. www.aikenslake.com It is a home to a number of business incentive groups as well. If you are interested we can actually coordinate a full program for you as well.
